Frequently asked
Do I need a certification to dive with you?
Not for a first try — Discover Scuba is a supervised half-day, no certification needed. Local fun dives and our destination trips ask for at least Open Water (PADI or equivalent), and some sites and depths ask for Advanced Open Water. The trip or dive page states what is required before you book.
What should I bring?
Swimwear, a towel and sun protection. If you own a mask, snorkel or fins, bring them — everything else can be rented from us, just ask staff about rental gear when you book. Certified divers should bring their certification card.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
Boat dives stop at Typhoon Signal 3 and above, or a Red or Black Rainstorm Warning — see D8. Pool and classroom sessions run to a separate, lower threshold; the full table is on the Outing safety page.
What are dive coupons?
The value from a weather-cancelled dive, kept in your Diving Adventure Education account for a future booking — see D8 and D21. It can be transferred to another person, but is not refundable except as D9 provides.
What languages are courses taught in?
Cantonese and English, taught separately so nobody is translating mid-lesson. Say which you would prefer when you book.
How much is the Open Water course?
See the Open Water course page for the current price in Cantonese or English. Both cover the pool sessions, classroom work and four open water dives toward certification.
How do I find the shop?
5/F, iHome Centre, 369 Lockhart Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. Call +852 2572 2138 if you get lost.
