【on.cc東網專訊】 60多支潛水隊伍參與漁農自然護理署一年一度的珊瑚礁普查，在33個地點考察珊瑚種類和生長情況，預計年底公布結果。潛水員須在海床指定範圍內記錄珊瑚、魚類和無脊椎生物的資料和數據，然後交予漁護署分析整合，而國際傷健潛水協會更連續三年派員參與。
協會主席葉健強本是沙灘救生員，11年前跳水受傷致四肢癱瘓，從此與輪椅為伴，但無阻他繼續追尋海洋夢。他加入國際傷健潛水協會學潛水，去年當上主席，統籌珊瑚礁普查的工作：「珊瑚礁普查不論傷健也可參與，水中無分你我，做同樣的事，體現共融。」
患小兒麻痹症的協會秘書丘志財已連續6年參與普查，常陪殘疾人士下水擔當義工：「潛水時地心吸力減少，水中的我變成一個普通人，靈活矯捷，平衡力甚至較普通人好。」
漁護署高級海洋護理主任周永權指，該署2000年起招募義務潛水隊參與珊瑚礁普查，隊伍數目由當年15隊增至現時63隊，潛水員逾600名，反映潛水人士保育海洋的意識日高。他又指如發現珊瑚遭嚴重破壞，當局會把相關區域列為「不宜碇泊區」，加強保護。
